Shiny_R Tutorial Feedback
This is feedback from TechSmith to QSIDE regarding their Shiny_R Tutorial.
Aside from an example, the core of your tutorial is contained in a Markdown file with title “Install Instructions.” The file could use reformatting and editing, such as fixing typos (“copied” instead of “coped”), using backticks to properly format code/path snippets, and replacing placeholders such as “(INSERT HERE)” with the appropriate content. However, aside from this, you may want to reevaluate the purpose of this document. The viewer will have already cloned all of the tutorials, so you should remove instructions related to git. Furthermore, you should modify this file to give more information about what your tutorial is. For example, introduce Shiny and its use-cases. As another note, you should indicate where to find the “Run App” button, since it is not clearly labeled on RStudio’s UI.
It seems like all the tutorial is showing us is install instructions on how to get a Shiny app running in RStudio. Which is fine, but there could be more added to make this more of an actual tutorial. There could be more descriptions on how to use Shiny. For instance, there are other aspects to Shiny such as shinyServer, shinyUI or fluidPage that a new user may be interested in knowing about. In addition, once the app is launched on a user's web browser, the tutorial could explain what the audience is looking at instead of making them infer the result of the tutorial themselves.
