HAP Reviewing Kellanova DTTD
Below is our review of Kellanova's DTTD Tutorial for Tableau:
We reviewed Kellanova’s tutorial about Tableau. We didn’t find specific issues (so we didn’t submit any pull requests), but our group had a couple of thoughts on the tutorial:
The entire tutorial is text. We understand that your tutorial is not python-based, so it is impossible to have a jupyter notebook to walk through code, but the text-heavy aspect made the tutorial hard to digest. We thought that there are plenty of resources online that will explain how to make a visualization in Tableau (ChatGPT for example). It would be significantly more helpful to include some sort of hands-on aspect to the tutorial.
On that suggestion, we recommend including a real dataset for those following the tutorial can download (like one from Kaggle). Following specific instructions you provide, the person following the tutorial should try to recreate figures you provide for reference in your tutorial. This way, the person gets hands-on experience and explores several different features you describe in the process of recreating those figures.
In general, we found this tutorial to be very general and unhelpful. The same information is probably available online or could be generated by ChatGPT, so the current tutorial is not an additional resource that adds value to someone who wants to learn Tableau.
We did not submit a pull request as we found that there were no issues that we can directly solve; there are no functional issues with Kellanova's tutorial, but we included our suggestions as issues.
